La Tuque
Composed of the former city of La Tuque, of four rural municipalities, unorganized territories and two Atikamekws communities, La Tuque is the largest city of the province after the municipality of the Baie-James.
Whatever the season, La Tuque will charm you with its beauty of its nature and its thousands lakes and rivers. On some of the water bodies, you can go canoeing, kayaking, swimming or scuba diving. In summer, mountain biking, hiking, climbing, paintball and golf are only some of the activities you will be offered.
During the cold season, you won’t be bored either since numerous snowmobiling, alpine skiing, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing trails are at your disposal. With its 9 zecs (controlled harvest zones) and more than 63 outfitters, La Tuque is the paradise for hunters and fishers.
You prefer cultural activities? La Tuque also offers concerts, cinema, summer theatre, arts and crafts, churches, covered bridges, the Centre et circuit Félix-Leclerc and the Fur Trade Interpretation Centre. Don’t forget to visit the Village Innusit, an Amerindian camp where you will have the chance to spend the night in a tepee, to travel lakes and rivers in a rabaska canoe and to follow the tracks of wild animals in the forest. What a large range of activities all more interesting than the other!
