Right in the middle of fall season, the city of Louiseville and the entire region of Maskinongé celebrate in a folk spirit the very unique Festival de la Galette de Sarrasin. The celebrations are centered on buckwheat, a much appreciated local product. The festival is therefore the occasion to taste the numerous products made from this cereal including pizza, beer, pastas, cakes and obviously buckwheat pancakes.
The Festival also allows you to discover many local products, watch a unique procession, attend the crowning of the Reine-Meunière and live, for a few days' time, the festive atmosphere and “joie de vivre” of the life of our ancestors. All of this without mentioning the multiple activities for all ages organised especially for the Festival.
So, whether you enjoy to discover local culture or you simply wish to go back into the joyful atmosphere of the first inhabitants of Québec, plan a trip this fall to the Festival de la Galette de Sarrasin!
