Mokotakan site (native culture)

Open from May to October and from December to March

Discover First Nations Customs

Mokotakan means “crooked knife” in the Atikamekw language. At this site, you will have the chance to discover the 10 First Nations in Quebec. This village will take you back in time to relive the Native presence since their arrival on the continent more than 5,000 years ago.

On the site, a representative of the First Nations will guide you through the reconstitutions of the buildings used by the 11 First Nations in Quebec. He will also give you information about the cultures and ways of life of these peoples. Moreover, during some summer evenings, Native contemporary music concerts are presented.

Visit the long house, the sweat lodge, the semi-underground house and, of course, the tepees. You can even enjoy a package including a night in a tepee for a genuine experience! Join in the fun and discover the First Nations of the province!
