Melville Island Park occupies a mostly wooded area that covers nearly 160 hectares of land. The park includes two islands--Melville and Banane--a vast forest and a mountain. The park is located right in the centre of the city of Shawinigan. The majestic Saint-Maurice River runs alongside this lovely area. The Melville Island Park provides visitors with many outdoor activities from which to choose: D’Arbre en Arbre (TreeGO), a climbing wall, hiking trails, cycling, canoeing, kayaking, tube sledding, downhill skiing, cross-country skiing on 15 kilometres (9 miles) of maintained, marked trails and snowshoeing, among others. Visitors can find accommodations on site; there is a campground and an Inn, open all over the year.
